Decent apartments. Luckily, I got a corner unit so it was well ventilated and bright. But some of the other units felt dank. The construction quality is nothing to boast about... I can hear the residents walking in the apartment above mine. But for the price and the location, you couldn't really ask for more.

I lived at la scala for 6 months after first emigrating to the USA. The pool and gym are good and well maintained and the circuit training class was great
Well I only wish that the pool was open 24 hours (((:
Verdict: A step up from on campus living but am excited to end my lease in June. To me my dissatisfaction was not caused by any one factor but a bunch of little problems that together really decrease my quality of living (see cons).PROS: * Management and maintenance are very friendly, prompt and professional. There was a miscommunica
After living on the UCSD campus for two years, La Scala was a much better choice compared to many other off-campus places that my friends moved into. My first apartment was a 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom, which was VERY spacious. I especially appreciated the "closet" on the balcony for storage space. My second apartment was a studio, whi
I lived here during 2012 first in a 1 bed and then moved to a 2 bed apartment with roommates. Overall the experience was good. One of the reasons that I moved here was that the rent was competitive. But it is no longer true since the rents have been increased more than other places in UTC. Weighing in the fact that the gym is small a
I am still living in this apt. The location is good if you study or work in UCSD. But it's full of students. I thought UCSD has leased this complex to be the dorm. If I have known about this (95% students). The rent is not particularly cheap though. I pay 1350 for a small one bedroom while my colleague pays 1150 for a bigger one bedr
I lived in La Scala from 2010-2012 and I did not want to leave. (I moved to the Bay Area, otherwise I would've stayed). PROS:* Maintenance was always quick to come fix anything. * The staff was friendly and accommodating * Lobby included a computer room (free printing!!), a lounge, and a communal kitchen area* Complimentary coffee/te
I had to post this after seeing the comments by Alexander S. I spend a bit of time at La Scala as my mom lives there. The office and maintenance staff are great and very helpful and responsive. Alexander S. seems to think that rules do not apply to him and is upset that there have been complaints about his barking dog, when dogs are
I am just about to end my 6 month lease here, and yes i will be moving somewhere else. However, that is not due to the apartment this place is just extremely overpriced. There are a lot cheaper options in the area if you are willing to look a little. I guess I will start with the cons since it seems thats the way Im headed...Cons1. l
I lived in La Scala 2007-2008 and really enjoyed my time there.Pros:1. Management. There are only about 3 people working at the office and they are always very helpful with anything that you need. Particularly they make it very easy to transfer the lease ownership, which is important for students who want to rent out their place over
Highly recommend because of the fabulous management team here-lived here 2 years so far and they are always quick to repair things, clean your carpet by request every 6 months, and keep the gym, pool, community, and trash/recycling areas very clean. Agree with others that the cabinets and counters aren't the best quality (like the ba
Pros: Nice gymVery nice, large poolBusiness centerUnderground parkingLarge, open living room/dining roomLots of light and big windowsLots of visitor parkingResidents are surprisingly quiet for being mostly UCSD students. No loud parties or anything.I live toward the street, but it's still a very nice view of UTC.Cons:Hallways are old
Overall, very good experience. Excellently priced apartment with decent service, timely maintenance, good security etc. Parking is pretty good once you get used to La Jolla parking spots which are all very narrow. Our apartment had 3 cars, so I had to park in visitor spots throughout my 2 years there, but I had to park on the street
I lived there for 3 years. It is a good price for the size, although the place shows its age. The staff is nice and responsive, the pool, gym, and BBQ facilities are nice, but the place is noisy. The noise comes from being > half students, as well as cheap building construction. If you are not a sound sleeper, this is not the pla
It always makes me laugh when La Scala advertises itself as "luxury villas." This seems like a bit of a stretch. I think a more accurate description would be "large, imposing, student-dominated, stuccoed apartment building."However, for what it is La Scala is actually a pretty decent place to live, and its rates are some of the best
We've lived here for nearly 3 years and the overall experience was very good. Rent is affordable and the staff are knowledgeable and kind. Some downsides: Most of the guest parking spots are VERY small, the bathrooms get very musty and wet when you take a shower, and you have to pick an apartment facing the terrace to avoid the

I don't know where to begin with the pros and cons. I guess I'll start with the pros first!Pros:-Staff and management are extremely friendly and helpful. I've locked myself out a couple of times and they are always more than happy to lend you spare keys.-Maintenance is awesome. I've had a couple of things that needed repairing, like
i've lived in La Scala for over 2 years and I basically have no complaints. It is a clean, solid, well-kept building with a lovely courtyard and amenities. I work a lot so I never experienced the fire alarms and, while I can hear my upstairs neighbors occasionally, it is absolutely mild and within normal limits. Perhaps I got lucky w

I think location matters. I can see why other folks rated this place only 3 stars because I do see a fair amount of college students around, but as far as I've seen they are the more studious type, not the wild loud dirty types...although maybe I've just missed those. :) Yes parking is as described, but if you are really concerned, s
Decent apartment complex. Staff is (for the most part) very friendly and helpful. Apartments are decently clean and maintained. very nice courtyard areas with fountains and palm trees. as in most complexes, walls are thin and noise from neighbors is inevitable. unfortunately there are many loud students here. as previous reviewer men

I've never actually paid rent here, but I sure have fond memories of this complex. I spent most of my time on the north facing 4th floor of one of their towers. The two master bedrooms were big and always filled with natural light. The gym is great and the the lounge was fairly high class. What kills La Scala is the parking. Worst par
La Scala are nice apartment homes. They have nice dual master bedroom layouts and plenty of parking which is great since parking is always a problem in La Jolla.
For the price, compared to other apt complexes in the La Jolla Area, the places aren't bad. But the rooms are smaller than most, and there ...
