Great location, not so great apartment units The towers are nicer apartment units than the short buildings. I moved out of my unit because it was regularly 78-82 degrees for about 8-9 months of the year due to building heat, even without turning on our unit’s thermostat adjustment. The buildings are so old that you can only do heat or AC, and the landlord picks when to give you AC… a LOT later than needed. Memorial day was yesterday and the AC is not on yet. The ceilings do not insulate against... noise and we lived under stompers… it felt like living inside of a pounding headache when the ceilings and walls rattled. The parking rules are a nightmare… there’s not enough parking in the lot so you must park in the commuter garage across the street & get up to move your car by 7AM to a spot in the surface lot. The rules are very confusing and there’s no warning before tow… we got towed while moving in. During our time here we saw many neighbors with the tow markings on their windshield, so I assume this a common issue. I do like the amenities such as the residents lounge conference room and the residents patio with grills & the location is very convenient to take the Metra. So many of these “upgraded” apartments are just the typical landlord special. Vinyl plank floors, engineered quartz countertops, etc. But what they don’t tell you here is just how antiquated the infrastructure is. The HVAC can’t run heat and air at the same time, so the entire system needs to be switched from heat to air and back each major seasonal change. This requires a period of “neutral” to make this happen. They do not tell you this when they show you a unit. You’re made to believe you... have true central HVAC. Over the last few days, our second floor unit has held temps over the 80° mark. And now, the new management company is saying they don’t have a timeline for it being turned on because they can’t find vendors to do the work.

Mind you, this is the same excuse they’re currently giving the residents of building five about one of their elevators being out. It’s the same excuse the previous management company gave when the pool operated for less than three weeks two summers ago. It’s also why our parking garage doors are malfunctioning on a regular basis.

Until someone puts some real work into this property, everything is lipstick on a pig. Streaky paint jobs that cake the electrical outlets on the walls, flimsy particle board doors in the apartments, old appliances, and so much more. As a long term resident who truly loves the location of this complex, I sadly don't know how much longer we're going to be able to continue to live here. The new management company has allowed for the elevator in our building to sit broken for over 2 months at this point and any time we've asked about it, or anytime they have provided an "update" in email blast, we get the same recycled response of "we're waiting on approvals from upper management and it's taking longer than anticipated." I'm... also writing this from my 80 degree apartment, the lowest temperature it has been in well over 72+ hours for the upteenth time over the span of 2 months. We do not have control over our apartment's air conditioner in spring or fall when temps have been largely unpredictable, and are forced to endure uncomfortable, dangerous living conditions for days on end. This is an old building with an ancient HVAC system by which all residents are held hostage. Future renters be warned.

On a separate note, I do give props to the maintenance team. In our nearly 5 years here they have always been quick to respond, friendly, and consistent. Any issue we've had large or small they have fixed immediately, or within a reasonable amount of time after communicating with us whether they would need to come back or not. Read More

Horrible Management does not address any concerns. Many weed and cigarette smokers in the building despite it being against the lease agreement. No ability to control your own AC so apartments get up to 85 degrees. Rowdy kids running around in the parking lot, hitting cars, hitting patios, no parents present. Not a peaceful or nice community. Disrespectful neighbors and kids. The blatant disregard from the office staff/management office is the worst part. I've had multiple maintenance requests... that went completely unaddressed. No response from Renew I have filled out a few surveys and never gotten a response from the Renew team. I especially would love to see the carpets replaced in our hallway as I have said in the past I’m almost embarrassed to have my friends and family. Come see me because they are so disgusting. Also, the resident site has no information on it at all. I’ve been directed to go there to renew my lease for next year and there’s nothing on it. There’s also never any of the events are listed and I... don’t know if that’s an oversight or if they’re listed elsewhere .if somebody could get back to me about that, I’d appreciate it. Read More
