The holidays have come and gone and have probably left you with a lot of clutter and chaos around your home. Well, there’s no time like the present to seize the moment, and de-clutter and organize your home as well as yourself for the New Year.
When you are putting away your gifts, take notice of what you have not used in over a year and seriously consider donating it if it’s in good condition, or if it’s time is clearly up, simply throw it away. This sounds like really common sense stuff, but you will be surprised by just how many things you have that you don’t need or use.
I de-cluttered this past weekend, and it felt incredible when it was finally over. I started with my Christmas decorations and donated anything that did not get used this year. Then I moved onto my wardrobe. Since I received some really great new clothing for Christmas, I did the same thing with my old clothes. If I had not worn something in over a year, or if I had owned it in my high school days, it was more than time to go!
My husband received some awesome pans for Christmas (yes I am lucky, he does all of the cooking) so we did the same thing with our old pots and pans, and eventually moved onto our dishware.
The beginning of a new year really is the best time to de-clutter and donate your unwanted items. Leave the spring cleaning to the amateurs, and start the year off ahead of the game.
