You Can Run, But You Can’t Hide From the Calories

| January 14, 2011 | 2 Comments

You can run as many miles as you want, but that doesn’t mean that it’ll cancel out the “you are what you eat” rule!  As much as I love digging into my oversized container of cheese balls, I know that it is not always the best choice.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice to indulge sometimes, but it’s doing it every day that poses a problem.  It’s especially hard when you’re at work or school because you will most likely go for what is convenient, not nutritious.  If you need a quick pick me up, there are several healthy options that you can carry with you instead of buying potato chips.

In order to resist my guilty pleasures, I have recently found that I have an obsession with almonds.  Nuts are great to keep on your desk when you’re slaving away at work, because they’re extremely tasty and full of protein!  If you’re more of a fruit person, cut some apple slices and grab a little bit of peanut butter to dip them in.  This way, you’re getting some carbohydrates and it will fill you up for a longer period of time.  When you’re really on the go or just want something small, have a granola bar.  There are more flavors than you can imagine, so I’m sure there’s one to tickle your taste buds.

With any snack you bring, make sure you don’t have too much.  In order to be certain that I don’t have to buy a new container of almonds everyday, I put some in a plastic bag so that I can portion what I eat.  This is a good way to avoid overeating and spoiling your dinner.

  1. I usually snack on a couple granola bars throughout the day. I really like the ideas of the nuts though. I think I’ll be hitting the store this weekend and picking up one of those big things of mixed nuts. Thanks!

    Cheers
