On January 27, 2010, Meredith Mobley, marketing communications coordinator at For Rent Media solutions, spoke to Norfolk State University’s Public Relations Student Society of America members and Dr. Marcia Taylor’s Public Relations Writing class about the real world of Public Relations.

“I wanted to prepare them for the real world of PR and let them know the key things they need to/must be aware of when working in the field,” said Mobley. “Your writing must be flawless writing and you need to know how to use social media as a communications tool.” Meredith Mobley Speaks at NSU

She also stressed the significance of doing internships, “Having multiple internships is a wonderful thing because they provide hands-on experience.” In addition, she encouraged students to join national and local organizations such as PRSA, PRSSA, and NABJ because they provide information and resources to help with career development. Mobley reminded students that being a member of different professional societies will make them stand out to potential employers.

Meredith embodies those qualities she mentions above. A 2005 Hampton University graduate, she interned for the DIY Network and the Virginia Zoological Park. Mobley currently serves as an officer on the PRSA Hampton Roads Board of Directors. As the marketing communications coordinator at For Rent Media Solutions, she coordinates public relations and internal communications for the multi-family housing marketing leader.

She is just another example of the amazing talent that For Rent Media Solutions has on staff. Way to go Meredith!!
