Hidden Lake

I would like to share my appreciation for the team at Hidden Lake Apartments and my overall experience with Kaplan Communities over the years.

My current experience at Hidden Lake has been wonderful. Jackie, Robin, Holly, and Ricki have all been professional, responsive, and genuinely caring. The management and maintenance teams are always available when needed and make residents feel valued. They truly demonstrate that tenants matter, and their commitment to customer service does not go... unnoticed.

I would also like to recognize Damaris Shutz. After the Colony Oaks fire on December 29, 2023, moving and starting over was a very difficult time for my family. Damaris was incredibly kind, supportive, and helpful throughout the transition. Her compassion and professionalism made a stressful situation much easier to navigate.

I also cannot leave out Valentine from Colony Oaks, who was always kind, helpful, and a pleasure to work with during my time there. My experience at Colony Oaks was excellent as well, and that positive experience is one of the main reasons I chose to remain with Kaplan Communities for so many years.

To fellow residents, my advice is simple: treat your apartment home as if it were your own. Respect the property, communicate openly, and be a good tenant. In my experience, when residents and management work together with mutual respect, it creates a positive living environment for everyone.

Office is supposed to be open from 9-5 but the staff is only there from 10-4 and close three hours for lunch. Manager never explains bogus charges to rent, just says I have to so I won't be fired. Maintenance has tried to enter my apartment without notice or even knocking. Grounds are so poorly lit that I've fallen three times. Garbage and recycling dumpsters are always overflowing. They not only charge extra fees for everything but lie about it when you view the place and on the contract. Time... for a class action lawsuit. Read More

Garbage dumpsters are always full. Old appliances break down causing leaks in your apartment, or leaks into your apartment. Maintenance isn't easy to reach. The leasing office always opens late and closes early. Charged 5% of rent for a late fee, Charged 250 a year for maintenance and limited amenities, even during Covid when nothing was offered. 5% rent increase every year. Need to give three months notice if you don't plan to renew. Small, mildewy gym. Poorly kept grounds.

This property has tons of hidden fees, and they won't tell you until the 48 hour "hold deposit" ($200) was cashed!! Very hard to work with!!!
The apartment they show us wasn't as advertised, it was not "luxury" at all!! Kitchen is a mess, shelfs are broken, dish washer seems like it will be broke anytime. The bathroom is dirty. We originally said would do a 12 month lease, they said if we do 13 months it'll be 1 month free. LIE!! They contacted me later stated they don't have any 13 months... lease available and we will have to do a 14 months lease. I asked what about the free month? DO NOT COME TO LIVE HERE. They advertise Luxury housing but that is far from true. This apartment complex resembles the ghetto. I am a single mother with a disability. Their maintenance technician lives below me and sounds like he hurts his girlfriend. He harasses me about noise on a constant basis. I spent THOUSANDS of dollars to carpet the apartment, was inspected the the Super of the complex and I am still being harassed. The community manager even sent me a threatening letter so further the... harassment. It’s so bad I even had to call the cops on the maintenance tech because my daughter was scared from hearing the yelling and screaming when he fights with his girlfriend downstairs and yet I receive a letter about noise. I do not feel safe in this complex. The community manager does not care about her residents or their well-being. I suffered from anxiety and this place is neither comforting or feels like home at all: I live in constant anxiety and I pay so much in rent to so call live in luxury housing.
