If you’re looking to relocate, why move to a city that has the environments best interest in mind? You can become a part to the movement to “go green” and reduce your carbon footprint. In an article titled “America’s 50 Greenest Cities” written by Elizabeth Svoboda, the following are the top five cities doing the most to live up to the green nameplate.
1. Portland, OR
This city gets over half its power from renewable sources and many commuters bike or use public transit to get to work.
Some buildings in this city have turned their barren rooftops into power stations, by adding solar panels to the roofs. What a cool way to implement a green initiative!
3. Boston, MA
This city has a plan to have a plant that would use grass clippings to generate 1.5 megawatts of electricity and to turn yard clippings into compost that can then be re-used.
4. Oakland, CA
Oakland opted use a hydrogen powered transit system to cut pollution in the city. This city also gets some of its electricity from renewable sources.
5. Eugene, OR
Eugene is a leader in electricity generation with 9% of is electricity coming from wind farms and most of the electricity coming from hydroelectric dams.
