If you are looking for Illinois apartments for rent, Chicago may be your first choice, but it can pay to look in some of the suburbs as well. Places such as River Grove, Elmwood Park or Hillside can make a good alternative to big city life. Rents in these towns are often less expensive and they are all fairly close to teh city. Other suburbs to consider include La Grange, Harwood Heights and Norridge. These three towns are a little bit more of a drive from downtown, but they are lovely communities with a lot to offer in their own right.
There are so many choices when it comes to Chicago suburbs. Some are quaint, like Geneva, while some are grand, such as River Forest. Most of the closer suburbs have good access to downtown Chicago by train, so commuting to and from downtown is not a problem. As a matter-of-fact, in some places having a car can just wind up costing you more for parking. You may want to make your rental choice in part depending on your mode of transportation.
