Are there any cities close to Houston that are on the water?

If you are trying to find something on the waterfront to rent, Houston may not be your first choice, but there are two communities nearby that fit the bill–Shoreacres and Kemah. Within a short drive of the Houston downtown area, these two cities offer all the recreation opportunities that come with living in a "resort-like" town. Shoreacres has a population of approximately 1,700 people, giving it a small town ambiance as well as charm. The city started out as a country club subdivision in 1925.

Located on Galveston Bay, Kemah is only 25 minutes from Houston. With a population of just over 3,000 people it is also a small town. Much like Shoreacres, water recreation is the focus here. In fact, Kemah has the third-largest fleet of recreational boats in the entire nation. Those looking for apartment rentals in an area that has plenty of outdoor recreation will find that both of these communities are a match for their lifestyle.
