Where is a nice neighborhood in Cleveland that’s young and lively?

Shaker Square, one of the first planned shopping areas in Ohio, is the centerpiece of one of Cleveland’s hottest neighborhoods. The area, which is on the east side, borders on the upscale city of Shaker Heights. It is home to about 11,000 residents, including young professionals and their families as well as artists.

The shopping district was completed in 1929 and modeled after European central markets. It was an immediate hit, drawing people from all over to its upscale shopping and dining, as it still does today.

Two Rapid Transit lines make it easy to travel quickly from Shaker Square into downtown Cleveland, the waterfront, and the airport.

Residents in the area cultivate a sense of community and neighborhood, joining community associations and keeping a community rose garden. The North Union Farmers Market comes to the Square on thirty Saturday mornings each year, showcasing locally grown produce, baked goods, and prepared dishes in addition to arts and crafts and cooking demonstrations.

With more than 4,000 units available, the area has the largest concentration of apartments Cleveland has to offer, ranging from studios to three-bedroom units. Rents are slightly higher than average for the greater Cleveland area.
