Is something like the Denton area practical in terms of renting?

Apartments in Denton can be a good idea if you want to live out of the crowded urban area but still need access to the big cities in the region, such as Fort Worth and Dallas. With a charming town square and a wide variety of stores to sample, hanging out in town is a pleasure. Close enough to commute for work in either of the two downtown areas, but removed enough to feel like another region, it can really pay off to be a little bit outside of it all.

Denton is still a good-sized community with a population of over 100,000, but it is north of both major cities, making it a bit more low-key in terms of traffic and all the other things that typically go with major metropolitan areas. There are a few other cities that have this type of strategic location, such as McKinney, Allen and Decatur. Each requires a bit of a drive if you want to get to Dallas or Fort Worth, but the trade-off is more than worth a little travel.
