What are good suburban alternatives to living in downtown Houston?

If you have tried looking for Houston apartments and want something outside of the city, try looking at towns such as Friendswood or League City. Both of these towns provide a great alternative to living in the downtown Houston area. Friendswood is a community of over 36,000, and it is well known for its public school system. The town hosts special events that draw many people from around the region, such as concerts in the park and a great 4th of July celebration.

League City is a 30-minute drive from Houston and it is also near Clear Lake–a 1,750-acre body of water. Sailing, boating and fishing are nearby, and there are plenty of dining and shopping opportunities right in town as well. Shopping includes Victory Lakes Town Center, Pecan Park Plaza Shopping Center and League City Gateway in addition to many others. The Kemah Boardwalk is also nearby, and it has restaurants, entertainment and rides.
