Apartments in West Houston and the outlying area are easy to find. Those who like being a bit out of the city can look at the communities of Katy, Sealy and Brookshire to see if one of them fits in with their idea of home. Katy is the closest of the three, located a mere 15 miles from Houston. Stores here include those with unique finds, such as antiques and arts and crafts.
Brookshire is west of Katy and it is about 30 miles from Houston. Housing is affordable here, and the community is cozy with a population of approximately 3,500 people. Sealy is a bit larger, with over 6,000 residents, but it also has managed to retain a certain small-town feel that is quite appealing. These three places are good examples of the kind of cities you can find in the Houston, Texas area. If you are looking for a rental on the east side of the downtown area, any one of these towns is a good place to find one.
