Polk County lies in the center of Florida, 25 miles to the east of Tampa and 35 miles southwest of Orlando. It is the fourth largest county in the state. Polk County is home to Lake Kissimmee State Park and over 500 freshwater lakes, in addition to more than 40 golf courses. The biggest city in the area is Lakehead, with a population of over 93,000 people. Other towns in the area include Winter Haven, Mulberry and Bartow. Since so many people live in this region, apartments in Polk County are fairly easy to find. The nice part is that there is such a range of towns to choose from.

Winter Haven is a pretty city that has a well developed park system in addition to 50 lakes. With a population of just over 30,000 people, it is a nice size for those who prefer a smaller community. Those searching for a good small town might want to look at Mulberry. With just over 3,000 people, it is a perfect place for those who like to know all of their neighbors. Bartow is another option, although it is a bit larger at 15,500 people. If you don’t find what you are looking for in any of these towns, there are others to try, such as Cypress Gardens, Eloise or Haines City.
