If you want to be close to—but not right in one of the many downtown apartments, Memphis has some great towns that are just outside the hustle and bustle. Places such as Mallory, Raines and Whitehaven are all options that you can consider. These towns in southern Tennessee are not too far from downtown Memphis, as they are all close to the border. Add to that the fact that I-55 provides access to the city center and you have a convenient place to live that has much more of a community atmosphere than you would find downtown.
The southern area of the state isn’t the only spot that offers some good options. There are also plenty of cities to the east and north of Memphis that make good spots for beginning a rental property search. If you are working in the downtown area you may want to make your selection based on where your job is located. Some cities may provide an easier commute than others. If you work from home, or don’t mind a bit of a drive, any city in the region will do, and you can take your pick based on what you like best in terms of atmosphere and amenities.
