Columbus is Ohio’s largest city as well as its capital. It is named after Christopher Columbus, and stays true to the explorer’s spirit of discovery.
With over 750,000 residents, the city is the most populous state capital in the United States. Columbus’ location puts it within 550 miles of half of the entire U.S. population.
The city is home to Ohio State University, which not only provides cultural and educational opportunities to residents, but brings a diverse population to the city. This mix of cultures has earned Columbus the label of a “typical” American city. The area has been widely used by corporations as a test market for new products.
The cultural roots here run deep. In 2008, Columbus was named as the 15th most literate city in the U.S. by Central Connecticut State University. The city is home to several renowned performing arts centers, including orchestras, opera companies, ballet companies, and theaters. The area also boasts many fine museums and several large concert venues.
There is no shortage of green space here either. In addition to city parks, Columbus is home to several public gardens, an arboretum, and one of the best zoos in the country.
Columbus apartments rent on average between $600-$700 per month for a one-bedroom.
