What is Helotes like?

If you are looking for good rentals, San Antonio is certainly one place to search, but there are other great towns in the area as well. Helotes is a perfect example of a smaller town that has a lot of appeal. The population here is approximately 4,300 people, so it is a place where knowing your neighbors isn’t out of the question. This is quite a change from the urban lifestyle of the big city, but it can be a lot of fun, after all, Helotes offers something entirely different. Still, with only a 12-mile drive to the downtown San Antonio nightlife, it is close to everything in the city.

This town is right at the start of beautiful Texas Hill Country, and it is an active city, alive with art, music and festivals. Every year Helotes holds its "Cornyval" event, which raises money for local non-profit organizations. Food, entertainment and games bring everyone together and it is one of the highlights of the year. The town is also home to John T. Floore Country Store, which is a unique venue that features live music. The place has been around for 60 years and has hosted some very famous names including Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Elvis and Johnny Cash.
