What is Huntington Beach like?

Huntington Beach is a great place to live. With 202,250 residents, the city is thriving, and it has an additional 11 million visitors that come through for access to the beaches and special events each year. Some of the events that take place here include the U.S. Open of Surfing and the Surf City USA Marathon. The town is often referred to as "Surf City." Huntington Beach apartments are in demand, so finding one may mean looking around for a bit. Still, if you want to live in an area that is right along the coast, you will be hard-pressed to find a better spot.

In terms of location, Huntington Beach is close to many cities and attractions. Just 40 miles south of Los Angeles, it is also only a short drive from both Long Beach and Newport Beach. The city of Santa Ana is nearby as well. As of 2006, there were 27,648 renter-occupied housing units in the area and the median gross rent was around $1,362. More than half of the housing here was built after 1970, which means there are many newer rental properties available. Some of the major employers in the region include Verizon, Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa and Home Depot USA.
