Downtown Lansing has approximately 1.5 million visitors a year, and it is easy to see why. With an eclectic combination of retail businesses and restaurants, it offers a truly unique experience to those who visit, as well as those who live there. There are apartments in downtown Lansing as well as offices, but the Principal Shopping District (PSD) is what attracts many tourists to the area. The central business district runs from 496 to Old Town Lansing and is bordered by Larch Street and Capitol Avenue on the east and west sides.
The PSD has over 1,000 businesses: a mixture of stores, restaurants and other unique properties. Loft apartments are among the most coveted rentals in the downtown area, as they tend to be right in the center of all that is going on. There are a number of newer developments along with older buildings in this section of the city. Dining options in the downtown area range from lively taverns to upscale restaurants, and the Washington Square Mall is a great spot for shopping and unwinding with friends. No matter what the season, there is plenty to do in the downtown section of the city.
