Lansing became the capital of Michigan in 1847 and remains the capital to this day. Serious development of this area began many years ago with the foundation of the Olds Motor Vehicle Company in 1897 and the accompanying industrialization. Today, Lansing has a diverse workforce and a population of more than 500,000 people. According to the 2000 census, there are 3,403.6 people per square mile, and that number has continued to increase over the past years.

Located on the banks of the beautiful Grand River, Lansing has the mixed feel of both a large city and small town, depending on where you go.
