Located to the north of Lansing are the communities of DeWitt and Bath. Both of these towns are in close proximity to the metropolitan area and they are a lovely place to live. Part of their appeal is that they are situated just outside all of the hustle and bustle of the city. Apartments in Dewitt/Bath are nice places to escape to if you work in the downtown area and are looking for somewhere quiet to rest your head and set up your living quarters. Bath is an unincorporated area, and DeWitt has a population of nearly 5,000 people.
DeWitt is a family-friendly town that was recognized by CNN/Money Magazine as one of the "Best Places to Live" in 2005. Only four towns in the state of Michigan were honored in this way. The city has an annual "Ox Roast" event in August that is loaded with small town charm. The Looking Glass River is a pretty, natural feature in this area. DeWitt also has several parks as well as a soccer field and two softball fields. In addition, there is a newer bike and pedestrian pathway for residents to use and enjoy.
