What is the downtown area like in Chicago?

Chicago’s downtown is affectionately known as "The Loop," and it is here that you will find skyscrapers and State Street. Home to The Art Institute of Chicago and Millennium Park, this is one of the most beautiful sections of the city. Apartments in downtown Chicago are conveniently located near much of the city center, but even those on the outskirts of downtown are close to public transportation. Those who work in the downtown area may benefit from searching for a rental property right in the heart of the city rather than in one of the outlying areas.

The Chicago River runs through downtown, and there are plenty of outdoor sculptures to admire—works by Picasso, Chagall and Miro grace the city landscape. Although this area of the city is really known for business, there is much to enjoy here. Plenty of dining options abound, and local bars and night spots can also be found. Lake Michigan borders the downtown area, creating a beautiful backdrop for many of the buildings along the shoreline. Lake Shore Drive runs along the coast, treating drivers to the view on their commute. Although this is a very busy area of the city, it can be a good place to look for rentals if you want to be near the water and all the amenities of downtown.
