What is the entertainment and arts community like in the Lansing area?

Lansing has a vibrant arts community and many opportunities to view theater and live performances no matter where you live. The Charlotte Performing Arts Center on State Street is a perfect example of the type of quality venue you can expect in the area. This 825-seat performance hall hosts nationally known events and offers state-of-the-art features such as a climate-controlled stage and high-quality acoustical engineering. The Lansing Symphony Orchestra and the Greater Lansing Ballet Company are other examples of high-caliber performing arts organizations that call this area home.

Theater companies, art galleries and quality cinema venues are located in various places throughout the city and surrounding suburbs. There is an "Entertainment Express Trolley" that connects those living in Lansing apartments and homes with the entertainment district in East Lansing. The trolley runs from 7:30 pm to 2:30 am from Thursday through Saturday. It stops at various entertainment venues and is available all year, allowing residents of the area to leave their cars behind for a night on the town.
