If you are searching for apartments in central inland San Diego, areas such as La Presa, Grantville and El Cajon might be worth a look. Even though you won’t be located on the coast, the area is still a great place to live, due in part to the mild temperature. Other cities in this region include Santee, Montgomery Field and Granite Hills. If you want something with good access to downtown San Diego and the Pacific Ocean, these cities are located nearby, so you won’t have to go far to get to the water and all that comes with it.
There are a few perks to living off the coast as well. One is that you will be closer to Cleveland National Forest, which is a beautiful area. Another is that the inland region of the state here tends to be a little less crowded than most of the places that are on the water. This can be a very good thing if you prefer to be in a town that has more of a community feel. If you want to get around in the region, I-8 provides good east/west access, and when you get close to San Diego you can pick up one of the north/south roads if you need to go somewhere such as Mexico or Carlsbad.
