If you are looking for apartments in L.A. that are near UCLA, Westwood may be your best bet. Although it is not quite as popular or posh as some of its urban neighbors, this area has an appeal of its own to offer, along with many amenities. The Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden offers a clue as to what Westwood is like–a bit unexpected. There are sculptures here by figures such as Rodin and Calder. Also in this area you can find the Fowler Museum, which deals primarily with non-Western cultures. The Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Garden is also here.
One of Westwood’s fascinating claims to fame is that it is home to Westwood Village Memorial Park. This is where you will find the final resting places of noted celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Frank Zappa and Dean Martin, among others. For those who enjoy live entertainment, there is the Geffen Playhouse, a 522-seat theater that hosts a variety of plays and musicals throughout the year. Westwood is an interesting place to live, and while it may not be the nightlife or shopping capital of the area, it does offer a nice slice of the California rental market for those who just want something different.
