Where can I find a smaller community in the Kansas City area?

The communities north of Kansas City offer a small-town atmosphere while remaining close to all the action in KC. This area boasts many historic sites and wide-open spaces.

Liberty is the second oldest incorporated town west of the Mississippi and has six districts listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The historic downtown area offers shopping, dining, and cultural activities. This is also the location of the Jesse James Bank Museum.

Beautiful Excelsior Springs sits in a picturesque valley containing 120 acres of parks, including walking trails, a skateboard park, and an eighteen-hole golf course. The historic Hall of Waters District offers great restaurants and unique shops. The city hosts several events throughout the year, including Waterfest and the Wine and Jazz Festival.

Platte County, which includes Parkville, Riverside, and Weston, is home to historic St. Joseph, where the Pony Express began and where Jesse James’ life ended. The county has many historic sites and great outdoor recreation areas.

The low cost of living in these areas means that apartments in Kansas City North are very affordable.
