The Westport area, which calls itself “the original Kansas City”, is rich in history. It was once an outfitting post for pioneers headed west along the National Trail System. The California, Lewis & Clark, Oregon, and Santa Fe Trails all ran through the towns of Kansas and Westport. The location made the area ideal for gearing up for the long journey west. Eventually, the towns merged into Kansas City, but the Westport area has maintain its love for commerce.

Westport has become one of KC’s premier shopping and entertainment districts. The area is bisected by Westport Road, along which there are quaint cafes, various restaurants, and a host of retail shops. Nightlife is lively and includes pubs and clubs with live entertainment by national and regional acts. The many street fairs and other special events offer something to interest just about everyone.

If you are looking for an apartment for rent in Kansas City, the options in this area range from contemporary to historic, with studio to three-bedroom units available.
