Where in Kansas City can I find an upscale neighborhood that isn’t too stuffy?

If your taste runs to historic and refined, Quality Hill may just be the place for you. This neighborhood, on the west side of Downtown Kansas City, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Quality Hill was once the most fashionable and upscale area in the city, populated by the rich and famous, but in the 1960s, the population and the neighborhood itself began to decline. Restoration in the ’70s and ’80s, however, has returned Quality Hill to its former glory. It is once again a jewel in the crown of the downtown area.

The neighborhood is home to a mix of excellent restaurants, live-entertainment venues, and cultural attractions. Here you will find the Folly Theatre, the Music Hall, and the Quality Hill Playhouse.

Quality Hill has the best of everything: restaurants, entertainment, architecture, and views. The area is famous for its outlooks over the West Bottoms and Kansas City North, made possible by the 200-foot bluff it sits on.

Apartments for rent in Kansas City are pricier in Quality Hill than in other areas, but the offerings range from refurbished historic buildings to brand-new lofts.
