Located on the Virginia Peninsula in York County is the unincorporated community of Tabb. Primarily a residential area, Tabb doesn’t have much in the way of commercial prospects, so those living in Tabb apartments , condos, or homes will most likely be commuting to a neighboring city or downtown Norfolk for work. An estimated 50% of Tabb residents work for the U.S. Government, either at NASA’s Langley Research Facility or Langley Air Force Base. The biggest employer in the actual town of Tabb is the retail superstore, Wal-Mart.
The city’s major claim to fame is that the first organized land battle of the Civil War was fought on the grounds that would later become the community of Tabb. Apartment rentals are scarce here because it’s so small, but if being near Tabb is important, the neighboring cities of Newport News and Yorktown may be good alternatives. For rentals in and around Tabb, you may be able to find one- and two-bedroom units for around $700 to $875 and $750 to $950, respectively.
