Reach Prospective Renters: Multi-channel Messaging

Challenging economic times require many marketers – including apartment community professionals – to step up their current marketing efforts. By creating an integrated, multi-channel approach, apartment communities and management companies can truly differentiate themselves from the competition with a holistic approach. Multi-channel marketing simply means using a variety of media to get your message across.  So what can you do to proactively reach perspective renters and increase your reach? Try implementing a few of the tactics suggested below:

Social Media. Use your Facebook fan page to build relationships and engage with current renters. Use this channel to promote and generate buzz for apartment community events, but remember to listen as well. Social media is social – so you need to be listening to your customers and engaging in relevant conversation. Resist the temptation to broadcast messages and aim for active and participatory dialogue with compelling content.

Email. Reinforce events that were promoted on your social media platforms. Include your Facebook and other relevant social media icons in emails to drive traffic to your social media pages and website

Print. Include your social media icons on print collateral and marketing materials. Prospective renters can learn more about your properties from community informational brochures and reach out to you on social media sites.

Start Small. If you have limited resources, take baby steps. Find the channel(s) that offers the most ROI. Don’t just select a social media site because everyone is on there. Are your customers there?
