Dramatic decline
Started renting when the property was owned by Morguard, back in 2018. The place wasn’t perfect but good value for money with lots of greenspace.
Avenue Living bought the property 5 months ago and the decline has been dramatic.
-Avenue Living fired all the grounds and maintenance staff. Trash from the street is littered everywhere. Laundry machines sit broken under fluorescent lights that flicker so badly it’s like a strobe.
-Avenue Living fired the security company that used to patrol the... property at night, resulting in a huge rise of car break ins and thefts.
-Avenue Living permits (maybe even invites?) telecom sales people to set up in building lobbies to aggressively sell to tenants returning home after a long day
-Avenue Living DOUBLED the average rent to over 2K /month so ignore whatever cost you see advertised. There are no caps on rent increases in Alberta so no reason to believe they won’t keep increasing it as long as you rent from them. Seniors, newcomers to Canada, and people with disabilities make the majority of tenants and most if not all will have to move.
This was a great community full of young families and lush greenspace but after 5 months of management by Avenue Living and I wouldn’t recommend Wyldewood Estates to anyone, not even if they’re desperate. Renters deserve better than slum housing at luxury prices.
