Security Concerns and Unresolved Issues at Raymond Block
I have been living at Raymond Block for 2 months now, and unfortunately, I feel compelled to share my ongoing concerns regarding the security of the building and the lack of effective responses from management.
Recently, my vehicle was broken into while parked in the underground parking garage. This occurred overnight, resulting in a shattered windshield and other damage. Upon reporting this to management, I was informed that the building is "very safe" and that the incident was "isolated."... However, given the patterns of break-ins mentioned in online reviews and my personal experiences with security lapses (such as unauthorized vehicles in my parking spot), I am left questioning the adequacy of the current security measures.
While I received a reminder email from management reminding residents not to prop open doors, which is appreciated, it does not address the root cause of the issue: insufficient access control and inadequate security infrastructure. My parking spot is near the main garage door, making my vehicle more exposed than others, and this incident is not the first of its kind. Other residents have also shared their concerns in reviews, with issues ranging from safety incidents in the lobby to unsecured packages in the elevator.
I understand that building security is a shared responsibility between residents and management, but paying $200 a month for parking, I expect more than just vague reminders about door security. I believe management needs to take more proactive and meaningful action to address these issues, such as:
-Installing additional barriers or controlled-access systems for the parking garage.
-Upgrading security camera coverage and ensuring that footage is properly monitored and stored.
-Increasing security patrols, especially overnight when residents' vehicles are most vulnerable.
-Notifying residents of specific incidents, such as break-ins, so we can take precautions.
Unfortunately, the lack of substantial action has left me feeling unsafe and undervalued as a paying resident. Until these security concerns are addressed, I cannot recommend Raymond Block as a safe place to live.
Pros:
Good location
Nice apartments
Cons:
Inadequate security and safety measures
Lack of effective communication and action from management regarding resident concerns
Security lapses and break-in incidents in the underground parking garage
