Avilla Tanque Verde

These apartments are a great concept -- separate individual little casitas without shared walls, new construction, all the amenities like granite, high ceilings, ceiling fans, stainless steel appliances, small private yards, great location in east Tucson, etc. They are nice and the pool and landscape outside are well-maintained. Since I was looking for temporary housing until I could find a place to buy after moving to Tucson -- this was perfect. Five stars for all of the above. However, I have... never dealt which such a disorganized management office. I've lived here two months so far.
Examples:
1. When moving in I needed a friend to pick up my keys for me. I called to get this coordinated three separate times, confirmed I could send a check with my friend for the rent, etc. I spoke with three different people all confirming it would not be a problem. And when my friend arrived, the office wouldn't accept a check and made my friend pay my first month's rent on her credit card.
2. When I moved in, I was given a covered parking spot number. Then later told I was parking in the wrong spot, and they'd put the wrong number on my lease, and then a couple weeks after that told again that I was given the wrong number.
3. When I moved in there were nearly 30 dead crickets in the apartment. After cleaning that all up, I continued to have problems with crickets getting into the house. It took three calls to the office to get on the exterminator's list. Each time I called, no one had any record that I had called previously and I had to start all over again. Since then one of the maintenance people told me the apartments at the Tanque verde location have problems with crickets. If by "problems with crickets" you mean hundreds of crickets over the last two months that I've lived here, I'd say that's more than a minor problem. I continue to have crickets in the apartment. Thankfully I'm glad it's nothing worse (yet).
4. Currently I am having a problem with the electronics panel on my dryer turning itself on for whatever reason (and beeps randomly throughout the day and night). I've called three times this week, and each time there was no record that I'd called previously or had a problem. It's now been four days since I last called, and still no one has shown up to fix it.
So for all the management problems, I'd give this place less than a one star, but averaged my overall rating to generous 2.5. Read More
