Rent or Buy?

Rent or Buy?

Are you just moving to a new area and not sure whether to rent or make the real commitment and buy?  Here are some reasons renting could be the right choice for you:
  1. Save that money!  Unless you’re planning on living in a place longer than five years, you run the risk of losing money if you buy.  Five years of renting is significantly lower than paying mortgage, property tax, insurance, maintenance costs, and fees from buying and selling a place.
  2. It can allow you to be choosy.  If you’re just moving to an area, renting is a way for you to get a feel for where your new life will be in a smart and efficient way.  It will give you the time to get to know a neighborhood and city.  You’ll be able to browse, and learn the area to find your perfect match.
  3. It can also take a load of worry of your shoulders.  If something is broken or you have a leak or something is wrong with the place, you don’t have to worry about it.  It becomes someone else’s problem that you don’t have to deal with!
  4. It’s also a short-term commitment.  If you don’t plan on living in an area longer than a few months or years, or you don’t know how long you plan on making roost, it’s probably best to rent.
