How Much Will It Cost Me to Move: FAQs

How Much Will It Cost Me to Move: FAQs

  1. How much does it cost to move?
When considering the price point of moving you will need to decide on if you are going to hire someone to move your contents professionally or if you are going to ask a few friends to help. Either way, moving cost will occur. You will want to consider the cost of boxes, any tools you will need to help assist with your move, protection for furniture and special items, and the transportation required to get to your new apartment. Along with what’s needed, you will also need to be prepared to pay the security deposit for your new place, the rent, and also for any additional cost that could occur on the move. Like a flat tire, hidden fees or broken appliances.
  1. When is the best time to move?
The best time to move can vary from tenant to tenant. However, the best months to consider your move are between November and January. Mainly because moving companies are painfully slow with business because of the seasonal weather. A mid-month move carries the lowest price. You can imagine how many people request movers the beginning and end of the months as their lease ends. Also, a mid-week move, instead of moving on the weekend, is a great way to ensure a low price that will fit your budget. These ideas are all in saving money and making your move as seamless as possible.
  1. How much does a moving company cost?
When inquiring about hiring professional movers, you will want to consider how much you will need to pay an hour and how many people it will take to move. The consideration of time is also an important part of the cost. Additional fees can (and possibly will) occur so saving at the minimum $500 to move can suffice for a local area. If you’re moving out of the state that price cost drastically changes.
  1. Are there any hidden fees?
Yes, there can be. When hiring professional movers, you want to read over your options and have a clear understanding of the contract. There could be fees for mover’s insurance, long carry fees, elevator fees, parking and hauling fees, handling large furniture, canceling your move and many other charges to consider. Doing your research with multiple moving companies before picking one will land you in a better position of saving your money and protecting your valuables.
