Storage Hacks — Seven Easy Ways to Make the Most of Limited Apartment Space

Storage Hacks — Seven Easy Ways to Make the Most of Limited Apartment Space

Small apartments are notorious for not having enough storage space. Even if you don’t have a lot of things to store, you might find yourself running out of places to put everyday items like shoes, kitchen knives, and clothes, which can be extremely frustrating. If you’ve already pared down your items to the essentials, and you’re still struggling to find enough space for everything, you’ll need to figure out some workarounds. Not to fear! We’ve got seven quick and easy ways to open up your apartment storage space so you can store the essentials and then some.

Take advantage of bed space

If you have a normal bed with a bed frame, you already have a decent amount of storage space! Stash some baskets and boxes underneath the bed frame to hold things you don’t need very often. This might include extra bed sheets, pillows, lesser-used clothing, and more! If you want even more, try finding other niches that you can fill up easily.

Find a ledge

Lots of windows are slightly recessed into the wall, leaving a little ledge directly under the window —this is especially true for bathrooms and bedrooms. This small ledge provides perfect storage space for your little apartment! Add things that you use frequently; in the bathroom, for example, you might want to use it for shower supplies. Don’t worry about lacking bathroom space; it’s one of the places where there’s plenty of storage that you likely just don’t see.

Buy sets of jars

Jars are a great way to show off your sense of style while also upgrading on storage space. This is a great addition to the kitchen, where you can use it to store large utensils and even kitchen knives, but can also be used pretty much anywhere you need a little extra storage. There are plenty of ways to put storage and style on the same platform!

Try cube storage

Cube storage, which consists of furniture that creates many little cubbies that can hold baskets, fabric containers, and even just items on their own, is a great way to ensure that you’re using every nook and cranny. There are all kinds of ways you can use cube storage in your home, and you should give some of them a try!

Use all the space in your closet

Most closets consist of a single closet rod for hanging clothes. While this can be great if all you have is a bunch of clothes that need to be hung up, it’s not great if you’re trying to find extra storage space. Put a bookshelf in, or even a small side table with lots of drawers, and add clothes and other stored items. This is just one of the clever ways to add storage space in a rental!

Make your fashion functional

Pottery and other beautiful bowls and cups are a great way to add storage space while also sticking to a theme. Try placing a large pottery bowl near the entrance of your apartment to catch all the clutter that would usually end up scattered around your living space —keys, gum, lipstick, and all kinds of other things. It’s a great way that you can make sure your decorative skills aren’t being dulled by the need to add more storage space. [tweetthis]Need More Space In Your #Apartment? Go for the unusual

When you’re looking to make a statement, you should try some storage solutions that are a little more out of the ordinary. For example, if you want more storage in your bathroom, a vinyl bag is a cost-efficient, interesting way to spruce up the way you handle your bathroom products, from towels to soaps. They’re also very light and handy, so if you don’t really have space on your bathroom floor, try hanging them on some S hooks for some functional wall decorations. Finding a way to make your storage a little bit unusual is a great way to make your space seem a little more personalized. Even if you’re working with a very small space, there’s no reason that you can’t keep all your things stored away in a fashionable, interesting way.
