The events of last night’s Red Wedding from the “Game of Thrones” episode, “The Rains of Castamere” have everyone talking all things GOT. And here at ForRent.com we are no different! We wondered what it would be like if some of our favorite areas that are set in George R.R. Martin’s world of Westeros and Essos were set in today’s apartments. You didn’t think we would forget about Dani, did you?
As the capitol of the seven kingdoms, King’s Landing is full of riches, fine details, and all the grandeur one would expect. Situated in the heart of Los Angeles, Watermarke Tower offers a stunning pool deck with private cabanas, a covered dog park, concierge service and complimentary wi-fi. Apartment homes boast royal features, such as stainless steel appliances, custom cabinets and high ceilings that are sure to please even the pickiest Lannister.
Considered at one time the capitol of the north, Winterfell was built to be very strong and withstand the harsh winters easily. Reaching up to 80 feet in the air and surrounded by oversized iron gates, Brooklyn condo 1 Main Street feels as though it fits the mold perfectly. Not only is it considered a historic gem, but entertaining other houses would be a dream. The huge living and dining areas, which have endless layout possibilities set off the backdrop of the 4 famous 14-foot glass clocks encircling the apartment, offering one-of-a-kind 360 degree views.
The men of the Night’s Watch (albeit frozen most of the time) have the most gorgeous view of them all from Castle. 200 W Reds Road in Aspen, CO has won our vote as the perfect refugee for our brothers in black. Complete with views and privacy, this apartment home has also been refurnished and decorated with contemporary art. The only problem with all of the comforts of these luxuries is getting the Night’s Watch to leave, so who will defend the realm from the Wildlings, the Others and the Wights?
We all know that Daenerys Targaryen is a lover of heat (what with her 3 dragons and her ability to somehow not burn alive from fire), so the hot old city of Astapor suits her temporary housing needs. Located in sunny San Diego, Carmel Pacific Ridge provides an open, airy feel that resembles the feeling of being in a desert oasis, but with all of the luxuries, of course. After a hard day of freeing slaves and threatening the rich masters with her dragon babies, Dani can retreat to the calming pools and cabanas, dine at the candle-lit loggia and wine bar, and plan her strategy to win back the Iron Throne in the peaceful nooks and gardens.
What are your thoughts on these contemporary homes for our favorite lands of “Game of Thrones?” Is there a land that we didn’t touch on that you would have liked to see?
