Spring Decorating on a Budget

Hello again! Kelly here from Here Comes the Sun. Today, I want to share with you the different ways that I decorate my home for Spring on a budget, so I’ve compiled a list of my favorite decorating projects showing the current trends that I love. Of course, all these decorations are renter-friendly and perfect for your apartment.

I love decorating with bold patterned curtains. It is so easy to change curtains if your taste changes. One of my favorite recent projects is my No Sew Faux Roman Shade. This project is so easy and can be done in 5 minutes. If you have existing curtains that you love, all you need to buy are tension curtain rods.

An easy way to add color to walls without paint is by creating a colorful display using fabric. I used one of my favorite patterns, chevron, and covered a piece of corkboard to create a bold bulletin board. This could be used in a home command center, an office or you can group it together with other items for a larger display in your apartment.

Another one of my favorites is the chalkboard trend. I created a wall-sized chalkboard as a focal point in our dining room. I love that you can customize chalkboards for any season or holiday. In order to make this project renter-friendly, I used a roll of vinyl peel and stick chalkboard paper instead of paint.

I also love to decorate with banners. They are so fun and come in all sorts of shapes and colors. I recently created a reversible chalkboard banner to go with my Spring Mantel. When Spring is over, I plan on flipping the banner over and using it for the summer holidays. Be sure to check out the full tutorial to find out how I created the colored chalkboard pieces.

One of the first projects that I made when we moved into our home was this Sunburst Mirror, and it is still one of my favorites. Can you guess what the rays are made out of? You can customize this to match any decor by just painting it different colors. A bright orange sunburst would make the perfect accent piece for Spring or Summer. This mirror works in any room of the house.
