How to Make a Game Day Goal Post Banner

How to Make a Game Day Goal Post Banner

With football season back in action, you might be thinking about hosting a viewing party! Don’t worry if you feel like you don’t have room for a big ol’ game day party, I’m here to save the day! I’ve created a simple way to make goal posts from craft supplies. Add on a banner, and voila! Football game ready!

This Goal Post Banner DIY is perfect for small side tables, coffee tables, mantels, etc. You can print out my “GO TEAM!” letters below or get crafty and make your own to coordinate with your favorite team’s colors or logos. It’s an easy DIY that can be saved from year to year and used for lots of parties.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED (for 1 goal post)

-White spray paint (or your choice of color)

-Two 8-10 inch wooden dowels (1/2″ thick)*

-2 small glass candlesticks*

-E-6000 or equivalent super glue adhesive

-14-16″ of ribbon (you can adjust this to your liking)

Downloadable Banner

*You can find glass candlesticks at dollar stores. Be sure your wooden dowel fits snug inside your glass candlestick.

HOW TO MAKE GOAL POST BANNER

1. Use adhesive to glue dowel into candlestick holder. Let dry fully (according to adhesive directions). Repeat for second dowel and candlestick holder.

2. Spray paint the entire dowel + candlestick holder white (or your choice of color). Let dry.

3. Use adhesive to attach ribbon to the middle of the dowels and across.

4. Print and cut out your banner letters. Adhere onto your ribbon.

5. Display your goal post banner on your party table, coffee table, mantel, etc!

If you want to jazz things up, you could recreate this DIY in a larger fashion (taller dowel sticks and longer ribbon, etc)! However you decide to make your goal post banner, it will certainly be a festive addition to any game day viewing party! Go team!
