Apartment Living BlogFood & Entertaining › Most Romantic Spots in Pittsburgh

It’s that time of year again. Love is in the air and, with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, you may be wondering where you can take your special someone for a nice, romantic date. Pittsburgh has some unique date-night options that can make your casanova endeavors all the sweeter.

Dinner for Two
Nothing says romance like a lovely meal for two. In the Steel City there are plenty of food options to go around, but if you are looking for a dining experience that will set the perfect mood, we’ve got our top two places to consider.

Legume

Okay, not only is the food at this Oakland-based joint delicious, but the atmosphere is classy and warm – perfect for a date. With top-notch service and seasonal, locally-sourced fare, Legume offers an experience that holds a top spot in our book. Did I mention that they serve mixed drinks from the bar that they share with Butterjoint? Reserve a table for two and ask for a Doctor Bird cocktail, trust me.

Altius

If your partner enjoys a good view, Altius is just the place. Located in Mt. Washington, this restaurant has received rave reviews from Pittsburgh locals who enjoy a true fine-dining experience. With windows that face out toward the city, you can enjoy your meal with a view. Altius uses organic, sustainable, and local products in an effort to be environmentally responsible, so you can feel great about order your entree here. Make a reservation, and ask for the Colossal Crab Ravioli!

All About the View
Maybe your the type who likes to make dinner in your apartment and then go out on a sightseeing adventure. There are so many different neighborhoods in Pittsburgh, it’s easy to find romantic and scenic places to explore together.

Mt. Washington

Whether you’re a long-time Pittsburgher or a guest from out of town, Mt. Washington is one of those places in the Steel City that everyone has to experience as least once. Why? The view is beautiful. If you’re looking for a fun place to walk around with your date, this is the perfect place to sit, stand, or meander around and talk with your partner. Let the scenery inspire new conversation.

Schenley Park Bridge

If you’re looking to lock-in your love (pun definitely intended), take your sweetie to the Schenley Park Bridge. You’ll probably notice numerous locks on the bridge. These locks signify all kinds of things that Pittsburghers feel, but the main message is that each lock is a “Lock of Love.” Why not reaffirm your feelings with a little gesture?

Grab a Drink
Sometimes a glass of wine or cocktail can make a date even more romantic, as you get the chance to share a drink with your special someone. Pittsburgh has plenty of spots to enjoy a specialty drink, but we are sharing two that we think are romantic and top contenders.

The Allegheny Wine Mixer

Sitting in Upper Lawrenceville, The Allegheny Wine Mixer offers a quaint and romantic atmosphere, with guest DJs and candles, so you can get cozy with your Valentine over a glass of red wine. Stop in and ask for their featured wine of choice. This winter, they are focusing on the Australian region.

Maggie’s Farm Rum Distillery

Located in the Strip District, Maggie’s Farm Rum Distillery offers a warm, industrial vibe. This spot has some of the best drinks in Pittsburgh, with rum made right in their distillery. Not only is their rum amazing, but they’ve got the awards to prove it. Having won Pennsylvania Distillery of the Year, Best-in-Category Spiced Rum, Best-in-Class Rum, Best-in-Category Liqueur, and even Best-in-Show Spirit, this is a date-night must.
