7 Ways Your Entire Family Can Spread Holiday Cheer

7 Ways Your Entire Family Can Spread Holiday Cheer

The holiday season is the perfect time to encourage your family to pull together to spread some holiday cheer. Here are seven random acts of kindness you can do to share the true meaning of the season! #1. Volunteer at the local soup kitchen or food bank. Spending a few hours serving food and assisting those less fortunate is a great activity the whole family can get involved in! holiday cheer food bank #2. Adopt a family via charities like the Salvation Army or contact your kids’ school and ask for a list of families in need. The family you select will be grateful for your donations and this can also reinforce a healthy perspective. #3. Invite a foreign exchange student who attends a local college to spend the day with your family. Kids can learn about other cultures, and you’ll save the student from a day of homesickness and loneliness. #4. Encourage your kids to choose a few gently used items to give to other less fortunate kids. Place a box in the middle of the room and have your kiddos select 3-5 items they can part with and donate to others in need. holiday cheer books #5. Pay it forward the next time you are in a fast food line or drive-thru. You’ve heard of the Starbucks “angel” who buys the cup of coffee for the car next in line. You can easily duplicate this effect and bring joy to someone else. #6. Stockpile all of the coupons and flyers you get in the mail, and put them in a few envelopes. Hand these envelopes out to the person behind you in the check out line (especially if the coupon can be used at the store you are in!). holiday cheer coupons #7. Smile! You’d be surprised how much simply smiling at the person you pass on the street or as you are walking into a building can mean! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and that you try one of these tips to spread some holiday cheer. For more tips, visit www.forrent.com.
