Villa La Jolla

We have lived in our one bedroom apartment for over a year now and like it a lot. Our neighbors are young professionals, one with a dog and another couple with a small baby. Surprisingly, we seldom hear the dog or the baby! People mostly go to bed early and get up early around here. There are some apartments accross the street that have more college-aged people who sometimes stay up later and make some noise. In general, we are very happy here. It is small (650 square feet) but very clean and... well-kept by the management. We love our large master bedroom, the closet space and our porch where we have a small garden and large grill. The laundry onsite is decent, as is the gym (small). The pool and hot tub are nice to have and people are very respectful in keeping it calm and quiet. We are only 2 miles from the beach and our rent is only $1450 (up $25 from last year). There is a shopping center a block away, we are also very close to the highway and bus stops. We feel very lucky to have this as our first San Diego apartment!! The downsides; it is a small apartment, mostly carpet (professionally cleaned between renters though), VERY quiet no-personality type community (people are very private), and we have no land to plant vegetables in or have animals roam around in- it's not a house!!
