Vivian Apartments

Forced to relocate for a job, I'm sad to leave, because this place has been wonderful. I'm going to miss the view of the courtyard fountain where cute birds come to bathe. I'm not sure if all the apartments have exposed brick, but mine does and I love it.

The building itself has a sort of style that's just pretty. It's family-owned and seems to be maintained with pride. The owners opt for a proper manager, rather than a management company. The current manager is very professional and... communicative. My maintenance requests have always been handled promptly and with good results. Free monthly pest control is a nice feature, although I never use it as I don't have any bugs.

The neighborhood is really nice and street parking is usually pretty easy. Had my car broken into once, but that's just LA and also my fault for leaving a leather jacket on the seat. Read More

I lived here for about eight years in a studio apartment with my cats. I was always happy to call it home and was sad to leave. The building has a lot of old Hollywood charm and the current property manager, who lives on site, is very professional and responsive (and always gave my cats treats!). Considering the length of time I lived at the Vivian, I would say the occasional problems I encountered (minor plumbing issues, etc.) were par for the course for an old building and were remedied... quickly. Management also stays on top of key things like pest control and security, and during my time there, the neighbors were reasonably quiet as well. All in all, a nice place to live. Read More

My experience was that the management is passive aggressive. Repairs were never done when I moved in - broken blinds etc - when I moved out they were deducted from my deposit. It’s a beautiful space but the management is not professional.

The good: Well laid-out space, makes studio living very easy.
The bad: Management is difficult, if impossible to reach.
The ugly: No central air, and we've found cockroaches in the building (but not our unit).
