How Is This Rating Determined?

8/11/15

Pretty spacious, but some annoying little issues.

I live in an upstairs Studio apartment. The layout is pretty nice as you go straight into the carpeted living room/bedroom immediately upon coming in the front door. To the right you have a balcony with a sliding screen door, which doesn't have a handle and doesn't slide correctly on the rails, so there is always an uneven gap when you close it. Fortunately the sliding glass door doesn't have the same issue. Next to the glass door, on the kitchen side, is an air conditioner that looks like it's... from the 1980s. It seems a bit inefficient, as it takes more than two hours to adequately cool the apartment.

The tiled kitchen is pretty large considering that it's a studio apartment. The layout is a bit awkward. In order for me to open one of the kitchen drawers, I have to open up the oven door, otherwise the oven handle blocks the drawer from coming out. That said, there is a lot of cabinet space, both above and below the counter tops, and the refrigerator and gas stove were both brand new when I moved in.

There is a very large walk in closet with a bar for hanging your clothes, a shelf over that bar, and two three level cabinets. Both it and the connected bathroom have tile flooring.

The bathroom has a regulation size shower/bathtub and toilet with a large mirror on the south wall. There is a small storage space directly underneath the mirror with two sliding doors that can be used for stuff like deodorant and cologne. Under that is a small sink set into the middle of a countertop. There are 2 drawers built into the counter, one of which was missing when I moved in, for some reason. Below that are two single door two level cabinets on each side of a double door single level cabinet.

Rent recently increased from $730/month to $755, which I feel is a bit expensive for the area that the complex is located in. My overall feeling is that it's a good but not great apartment.
