Thin walls
Very thin walls, lived in one of the townhouses. You can hear everything! annoying especially when your neighbor has a crying baby! Also had mice as well. Gym was closed and laundry was horrible.Plus are beautiful homes in a good area, lots of foods to choose from with bars, Yoga studio down the road. Also train station very close by.

Bats in SH building
Lived in a renovated unit that had bats living in the roof above the bedroom. A bat got in and maintenance removed it. They also “sealed up potential areas any can get in” however, they did not relocate the bats as they should’ve. Then management had the audacity to try and raise the rent pretty drastically despite the issue not being resolved. They said they would be willing to relocate me to an unrenovated unit for the same rent I was paying until the 2 months of my lease were up but then I’d... be subject to the increase and it would have been almost as much as the increase in the renovated unit. Hope whoever got the apartment after me was notified of the bats and didn’t discover it by hearing the noises on their own and if they did - I hope they called the health department.

Should have listened to the reviews, AVOID
Should have listened to the reviews about Navarino across apartments.com, not just at Beacon Mills.
Long story short, couldn't get a hold of anyone in the office for two weeks after multiple emails and voicemails. Finally caved and applied against my better judgement. $100 application fee! And then no word from Beacon Mills that it was even received.
Finally went into the office, and they explained that because I was applying with my partner, she would also have to cough up $100. Not a... downpayment on an apartment or even a guarantee of an apartment, just $200 out the window.
Go elsewhere, this isn't worth your time. Unless you like sending $100 or $200 to an office that is unreachable unless you go in person. In which case, go for it!

You get a pretty apartment and that's about it
The environment and apartments are beautiful. You pay your rent and you have a place to live, and that's about it. When things go wrong, no one will respond to you, not the property manager, the leasing office, and don't get me started with maintenance.
Dishwasher leaks, and has leaked for a year now, I must have called maintenance 10 times and they insisted they had a new machine they'd install, but that never happened. The roof here needed to be replaced and was being put off, so there are... stains on the ceilings of apartments, and they won't respond to that either. The neighbors here are very odd. People screaming at the top of their lungs, neighbors playing very loud music and performing strange rituals that the entire hallway can hear. People here are not supposed to be smoking, yet the hallways and sometimes even my own apartment reeks of cigarettes and weed. I've called many times about this but to no avail. I have had to call complaining about a dog barking 24/7 in a room and threatened to call animal control in fear that this dog was in distress. Also there is a major bug issue in these apartments. The windows are original and myself and many others have experienced bees coming through the windows. Maintenance told me "there's nothing they can do about it," forcing me to go out and take action myself, which is what I'd do if I owned my own house. The point of renting is for the landlord to handle issues, not the tenant.
I also have stories of friends who currently live here: hot water heaters exploding, causing damage to apartments and those beneath, and maintenance has done nothing. Hoarders. My favorite, someone here accidentally fired a gun into the wall of a tenant's apartment.
If you're OK with being completely on your own and you like the scenery and beautiful apartments, then go for it. Otherwise, here's how things can be better here:
1) Maintenance, actually respond and fix things.
2) The property manager should be more present and address issues like the no smoking policy, screaming, disturbing/loud neighbors, ceiling staining, the bugs/bees getting in through windows, etc
3) at least act like you care. I have left countless voicemails and no one even takes the time to get back to me. That would at least show you care about your tenants.
