Revolving door
The elevator regularly breaks down, often leaving tenants to their own devices. Noise is an ongoing issue. The most common complaint is theft, to include package and property theft. Tenants have recently reported stolen clothes from the basement laundry room. Air conditioning isn't controlled by individual tenants and when it's turned on during the summer, it only works to its full potential during daytime. Windows, doors and walls are poorly insulated. Tenants have repeatedly complained about... their hollow metal door that slams every time someone uses it. Yet, this recurrent issue hasn't been addressed for over a decade. Gelman Management strives to find the cheapest possible route to address repairs and replacement of outdated and non-functional appliances, including a dusty and moldy air conditioning unit dating back to the 1990s. Sewage pipes are positioned above closets in specific units, which means that the landlord is not liable for loss or damage to property caused by these leaks. According to the lease, a landlord’s written consent to move in with a pet can be withdrawn at any time for any reason. Legitimate complaints are met with condescending attitude, threats and retaliation.
