Great location, everything else is pretty good
The best part is the location- Right across from Georgia Avenue-Petworth metro station, next to Safeway, near restaurants, bars, and Lincoln's Cottage.
The building is older, which is good because it is solidly constructed and you don't hear your neighbors most of the time. However, it doesn't have amenities which newer buildings have as standard features. Some apartments have dishwashers, others don't. Laundry is downstairs. There's not a front desk to monitor who comes in. There's no... ventilation in the bathroom or kitchen...this is good to know.
The management is pretty good, small repairs are made very quickly. The office is only open Mon - Fri from 8ish - 5ish, which is annoying if you need to pick up a package and you work those exact hours.
There's an elevator, but the vent was last cleaned in 1987, so it frequently offers an opportunity to smell what's cooking on another floor or which terrible cologne someone chose. Still better than carrying your groceries up the stairs.
Despite some negatives, the rent is cheaper than fancier buildings nearby, and we get the same great location!
