Approved, Paid Deposit—Then Told I Couldn’t Move In
I visited this apartment about a month ago and was contacted shortly after to provide income information and complete a waitlist application. Over the next few weeks, we exchanged multiple emails. I was eventually told I was approved, given a move-in date, had an account created in their system, and was instructed to pay a $500 deposit and purchase renters insurance—both of which I did. I also informed two other properties that I had chosen a different apartment, and they removed me from their... lists.
Unfortunately, just three days later, Weavers Row called to say they had made a mistake and that I would not be able to move in after all. The reason? The apartment turned out to be designated for a lower income bracket—even though the very first thing they requested from me was the income verification I submitted nearly a month earlier. This was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience, especially since I had already turned down other opportunities and had to restart my housing search from scratch.
