Situated in the northern part of Georgia, Winder is a lively city with a small-town vibe about an hour east of Atlanta and 25 miles west of Athens. Head to the center of town for a collection of restaurants, shops, and community events and festivals taking place here throughout the year. Attractions like the Barrow County Museum and the Cultural Arts Center are located in the eclectic town center as well. Fort Yargo State Park is located in the southern part of town and provides outdoor recreation. The state park's camping sites, hiking paths, and fishing and boating opportunities on its namesake lake draw in residents and people from the surrounding areas. The rest of Winder is made up of peaceful residential areas with a few duplexes, apartments, and suburban homes for rent.
