Nestled in the dense forests of the Ozarks, Fort Leonard Wood is a town named after the army training base that makes up the area. Although it remains a relatively small town, residents have plenty of amenities, including a theater, gyms, restaurants, and stores, situated around the base. There is also no shortage of outdoor adventure; hike through the Ozarks, kayak along the Big Piney River, relax at Bloodland Lake, or explore Miller's Cave. Residents can be sure that they won't run out of outdoor fun. Outside of town, Springfield lies about an hour and a half south while St. Louis is about three hours north.
